Fall Postseason
Fall Postseason
D1 splits its State chapters in half to reduce travel.
El Paso and West Texas will face-off on one side of the bracket while Austin/San Antonio will face-off among itself on the other side of the bracket.
The winners in each age bracket will face-off at the State Championships against the other half of the bracket.
Seeding:
All teams (from one side of the bracket) in an age bracket are lumped into one pot and seeded as follows:
Winning Percentage (.938 / 7-0-1 is ranked higher than .875 / 7-1-0).
Head-to-Head when teams have the same winning percentage.
If the teams never played, or played twice and split their games, they are sorted by the PCI (algorithm) value.
In the rare occurrence teams are still tied, a coin will be flipped. Has never happened since the algorithm was put in place.
Final point totals are NEVER EVER used for ANY seeding.
If there are any THREE WAY TIES, such as ‘A’ beat ‘B’, ‘B’ beat ‘C’ and ‘C’ beat ‘A’, it will be resolved strictly by the PCI value. Other ties will be resolved on a case-by-case basis by any method that makes sense.
At Large:
If one side of the bracket is filled with 4-4 up to 8-0 and the other half is looking to take 3-5 or lesser teams to complete their bracket, any 4-4s from the full side can take an "at large" slot on the other bracket.
If a team accepts this slot, they will travel each week to sites in the other bracket with a few location modifications for travel fairness.
D2 is is currently comprised of just Austin/San Antonio and the RGV.

When developing the schedules extensive consideration will go to the needs of the traveling teams (those traveling the farthest vs local).
There may be times that an organization has teams located at different fields and they may or may not be playing at the same time. TYFA will make every effort to try to avoid this or at least reduce as much inconvenience as possible but there is no guarantee.
Due to the logistical and time constraints that affect the scheduling of the post-season, once the playoff schedules have been established, they will not be changed! It is not always as easy to change something as it sounds. Changes cause ripple effects.
Teams need to remember that TYFA does things with the “Big Picture” in mind, not just what is best for one team. Seniority normally does not play a part.
BECAUSE OF LOGISICS, the “Big Picture” and the “Greater Good”, will make some match ups where both the High and Low seeded teams will travel to a more centralized location because of the great distance between the two chapters.
During the playoffs prior to the semi-finals, games between El Paso/San Antonio will be moved to the Midland/Odessa area as a reduction in travel regardless of who is high seed.
Games between El Paso/West Texas will be hosted by the high seed.
Games between San Antonio and the RGV will be hosted by high seed.
Any other combinations will be determined by TYFA when necessary.
Hosting does not mean a single game can be done at your home field. And just because an organization may be a host, it does not prevent their low seeded teams from traveling.
Scheduling conflicts of volunteers and/or athletes will NOT be given any special considerations. Remember, the playoffs affect thousands of participants, not just a few or the one.
TYFA will not schedule or adjust game times to accommodate those coaches who may choose to coach multiple age groups. The rules highly recommended not to do that.
TYFA will not schedule or adjust game times to accommodate players and coaches who may be participating with FBU, Junior Rank, Tournaments, or other sports etc.
Playoff games (including the State Championships) will take place on either Saturdays or Sundays depending on field availability.
We understand that many people may have certain beliefs about Sunday, and though we do not disagree, we are on a limited timeline to get all the games played prior to Christmas.
Semi-Finals and State games are hosted by TYFA at a site of TYFA's choosing regardless of seeding.
Due to the lack of weeks to make up games and team travel in the playoffs, TYFA will be the only ones to cancel, postpone or schedule a makeup due to weather. There could be long delays, venue changes or games moved to the next day (if possible). any team that leaves a venue without TYFA's approval or refuses to play will forfeit.
